Sicilian liqueur obtained from an infusion of lemon peel, Cuor di Limone is pleasantly sweet and aromatic. Its fragrance makes it a classic dessert liqueur with the properties of an excellent digestive: but it is also ideal for flavoring fruit salads. It is recommended to serve it iced.
The custom of water with anise is very ancient and some dates back to the period of the Arabs, from whose language the word Zammu originates.
If the etymological origin of Zammu is a mystery, it is even more so the recipe with which it is distilled from anise seeds according to the right doses. It is in fact a secret kept in the safe by six generations of the Tutone family, transcribed in beautiful handwriting on a notebook with black cover and checkered sheets, where there are also other recipes of derived liqueurs. The origins of the Tutone company date back to 1813, when in Palermo in Piazza Fieravecchia, today Piazza Rivoluzione, the famous Anice Unico (Zammù) was prepared in the family grocery store. The company, always managed by the family, has been operational since 1948 in the heart of the historic center of Palermo, in via Garibaldi, inside the Palazzo Aiutamicristo. Here he prepares the products, always maintaining the methods and the artisan nature of the recipes. In 1979, again with family capital, S.p.A. was established. In addition to the management and company policies, aimed at expanding the range of spirits and liqueurs, the family deals directly with the preparation and marketing of products.
